Beauty fashion is one of the most important industries in the world. Women spend billions of dollars on cosmetics, hair care products, and clothing every year to keep up with trends. One trend growing steadily over the last few years is Pantone’s influence on beauty fashions. With each color release by Pantone, there are at least a dozen new colors that show up in makeup collections and clothing lines around the world.
Pantone Color Of The Year 2022
Today, we’ll be looking at the history of Pantone’s influence on beauty fashions. There are several reasons why they’ve become such a big trend in recent years and how it is changing what women around the world buy. We’ll also take a look into what might come next as far as beauty fashion trends go for 2019.
What We Have Now Is Only The Beginning!
Pantone released its first color of the year back in 2000. The color was called Cerulean Blue, dubbed the color of the Millenium. Fast-forward to today, Pantone has released 21 different colors as their “color of the year”. Each release has had a huge impact on beauty fashion, with new colors showing up in products all around the world.
For the company’s 2022 color of the year, For the first time, Pantone has developed a new color: Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri, a lovely periwinkle blue with violet undertones.
The soothing quality of the shade of lavender is undeniable, which the global color authority calls the “happiest and warmest of all the blue hues.” This stems from previous Pantone colors of the year, including Ultra Violet (2018), Living Coral (2019), and Classic Blue (2020).
“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
During 2018, we saw several different colors that made it into products worldwide. Living Coral was one such color and had everything to do with why women were buying more coral lipstick than ever before.
In fact, there are several reasons for this trend, but the biggest one is how well it suits nearly every skin tone on earth. Women who would not typically wear reds or oranges suddenly started wearing warm corals because they looked great on their skin tones.
This coincided with another major beauty fashion trend: gold eyeshadow. While most people associate golden eye shadow shades as very yellow, some brands actually did blue versions, which worked well when paired with coral lipsticks.
To sum it up, there are three main reasons why Pantone’s influence on beauty fashion has been trending so much over the last several years:
- All about color and how it works with skin tones.
- There are colors that match well with other popular colors in the beauty fashion industry.
- Pantone releases colors that are just generally pleasing to look at and make people happy.
With a color of the year like Ultra Violet, it is no wonder why people were drawn to all purple makeup and clothing in 2018.
After the 2020 lockdowns, Pantone picked two hues, Ultimate Gray and Radiant Orchid, to symbolize serenity in the face of adversity as well as optimism for the future.
The lockdowns were a turning point for many people, as they realized that the world was changing and we needed to adapt to survive. Many people are hopeful that these new colors will help us move forward into a brighter future. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
