Launched in 2014, the new BMW i8 is preparing to receive its first update. The facelifted BMW i8 having hybrid powertrain is expected to hit in late 2017. The car will be equipped with a host of enhancements such as long range and extra power.

The late 2017 facelift is also bringing variants to the market. Apart from extended range and long power, the hybrid BMW i8 capabilities include various tweaks in the frame, a series of latest lightweight components, and an inductive option for charging. The changes are an important segment of a comprehensive facelift for the luxury high-tech 2 + 2 that went on sale for the first time in 2014, in the UK.

The hybrid frame will adopt an advanced powertrain i.e. petroelectric, which is currently being tested. The test criterions for the facelifted BMW i8 include road-going prototypes and the latest iteration of the safety car based on i8, which marks a prominent place at Formula E events across the world.

As of now, the information regarding the BMW i8 remains scarce, although the best in class engineers at research and development facilities of BMW in Munich have something to interesting share. According to them, the electric motor of the revised model will be more powerful as compared to the one used by existing BMW i8 i.e. 127bhp.

The electric motor carries three-cylinder gasoline engine of 1.5-liter at present, so it will also be upgraded as reported by Autocar. The total combined output of power would touch 420 horsepower while the current model reaches 362 horsepower.

The laundry list of advancements would eventually result in an even faster car because the automatic transmission having six-speed will be subjected to upgrade as well. As of now, the car hits 62 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds. As far as battery packs are concerned, the capacity of the latest batteries isn’t disclosed yet. But the battery pack is most likely to remain unaltered. The safety car has already experimented with the inductive wireless charging system, HALO, which has been engineered by Qualcomm, a partner of BMW. So, we can expect it to appear in the new BMW i8 as well.

Now, two entrepreneurs Theo Ruygrok and John Dickinson have set up a new business of air farming, which involves the selling of fresh air packed in cans from Australia to China. The ‘Bottle of Air’ comes in different flavors from various areas in Australia. The locations include the Gold Coast, Tasmania, the Blue Mountains, and Bondi Beach.

These two entrepreneurs compress the air in a disposable can using air farming technology. Each can of air is claimed to hold 130 deep breaths. All you have to do is simply use the face mask carved out of plastic to breathe fresh, normal air. After packing the air in the cans, the air is sold for no more than AUS $20 each. And the list of air flavors does not end here; you can easily get a can of fresh New Zealand air.

“Using the highest standards in compression and filtration, we fill individual containers directly on location,” the duo quote on their website. “The capturing process is conducted using completely sterile equipment and our quality control is second to none. This way we can ensure you breathe the same clean unspoiled air we took from the location.”

Similar to culture, ethics, soil, and languages, the style of air too varies from location to location. For instance, the beach air would taste of sea breeze while the air in the mountain is the result of Eucalyptus trees.

This weird industry usually targets the heavily polluted areas. The debut of such business in the market also serves as a major threat to us. It’s effortlessly displaying where the global warming is leading us and what our possible future is going to look like if we do not show some serious concern towards the pollution check.

He also tried his hands on a series of exclusively designed iPhone cases. Both the new products failed to leave a mark, but it certainly hasn’t stopped the solo artist from coming up with the latest timepiece, a smartwatch known as the Dial. The Dial is a self-contained wearable device that requires SIM card, which will be exclusively available in the UK on THREE. It starts at £22 / month with an upfront fee of £49, or £25 / month with one-off payment of £19. That’s right, in order to get the Dial, you’ll need to grab a separate and new contract. Unlike most smartwatches available in the market, this smartwatch by Will.i.am doesn’t require a phone tethering. That’s because the wearable arrives with SIM, allowing you to text, access the internet, and call with nothing but the wearable present on your wrist. The smartwatch by Will.i.am is being claimed as a voice-first wearable with its personal virtual assistant, AneedA. Similar to Alexa, Cortana, and Siri, the motive behind the digital assistant is that you can fetch information and perform tasks even when your hands are occupied. However, the manner how AneedA will work as compared to the high-end alternatives mentioned above is a mystery, at least for now. According to the Three, the digital assistant can learn and modify a response to each consumer accordingly. The internet service provider also claims that this piece of technology will make the traditional form of internet search on mobile, irrelevant. These are just big claims for now, which we’re certainly skeptical of since the flop performance of the Puls. In fact, early in 2015, it was criticized as “riddled with problems” and a “wearable nightmare” by the media. However, its successor has a fantastic trick to win the client base back. The Dial gives an access to free music streaming. Powered by the service, 7Digital, the smartwatch by Will.i.am has a stock of more than 20M soundtracks in ad-free version. There’s an old saying, it’s the best time to strike an enemy when they are at the weakest. Samsung, probably, has taken the thought into consideration as a chunk of strategic advice when it comes to surpassing Apple to take the throne of global smartphone leader. If you’ve followed Samsung sales report recently, then you’re probably aware of the critical success, which has graced the company following the release of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Well, apart from returning the old fame as the smartphone leader, the strong success has started to boost its finances. Yes, the Korean multinational smartphone manufacturer has nailed it this time. A massive momentum has been established and the sale for Samsung Galaxy S7 lineup is certainly going be at the top of the world this quarter. And, of course, the next in line by the flagship, Galaxy Note 6, is gearing to rule the next quarter, unless its archenemy Apple comes up with a brilliant strategy.

Let’s just say that Apple is struggling like never before this year. Despite the launch of a high-end lineup of the iOS flagship, the Apple sales report is highly upsetting. This March, Apple revived the 4-inch model, iPhone SE, by adding the high-end features, but the model failed to perform as per the expectation in the smartphone market. More importantly, the ascendancy of Android-based smartphone leader, Samsung, is kicking in just when Cupertino, California-based iOS king lands into one of the roughest periods of the decade.

In 2014, the launch of iPhone 6 shook the profit center of Korean smartphone maker so badly that the Samsung sales report saw a drop of 73.9% in the mobile profits the following year. Also, the flop model, Galaxy S6, added more to the misery of Samsung and crashed the fame of Android-based smartphone leader almost to the ground.

Since then, the company has struggled hard to bring progress back like its previous profits in the smartphone business. The overall profits are merely 68% of what Samsung had earned in the second quarter of 2014, but the smartphones manufactured by the company involves only a little contribution. That’s correct, the immense success of latest S7 family release has very little to do with the stability. The major operating profit arrives from Samsung Electronics division, as it reports 6.68 trillion while the Samsung sales report for mobile division reports operating profit of 3.89 trillion.

The Apple sales report suggests that overall operating reports for the company this quarter has been $13.987 billion (23.5% down from the previous year’s same quarter). But the good thing is, despite the rough patch through which Apple is struggling due to the drop in iPhone, Mac, and iPad sales, Samsung IM is making only 24% of iOS giant’s operating profit, even if it’s trading 60% more phones. Samsung shipped 81.9M smartphones as compared to 51.2M iPhones shipped by Apple.

So, Apple is not the only one struggling. In 2016’s first quarter, Korean smartphone giant shipped 81.9M smartphones, down from 82.4M in last year’s same quarter. In fact, the decline for Samsung would’ve been larger had it not released the championing flagship lineup, Samsung Galaxy S7, and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The launch of new smartphone resulted in a vigorous sale during March.

According to Apple sales report, the iPhone sales witnessed a massive drop of 51.2M from last year’s 61.2M sales in the same quarter of previous year. Tim Cook’s company was hit by smartphone sales debacle due to lack of fresh features in its iPhone lineup 6S and 6S Plus. It dissuaded major iPhone users from upgrading.

If we look at the current quarter, Apple has performed well in the land of dragons. The iPhone maker has strengthened its grip on the high-end smartphone economy in mainland China. In March, a report showed, merely a day after Apple reported its growing sales number in China for the quarter, the investors and shareholders were sent into a tailspin.

Apple saw a hike in its on-quarter share of the market by 0.94% for mobile devices priced $308 (2,000 Yuan) and above from the beginning of the year to the end of March 2016. The share increase for Apple from January to March is much lower than the first quarter of 2015 in China where the company added additional 2% market share. Generally, the addition of low market share results into lower sales. Of course, this doesn’t mean that iOS giant is not performing well in China. The Chinese market still remains a hot spot for iPhone, where iOS devices are the ultimate choices for premium smart device users. Apple performance has been best in tier 1 cities of China, a place where consumers are more concerned about the ‘style and premium quality’.

For global market share except China, well, we do not know when exactly the miseries of Apple will arrive at an end. For some time now, we’re bound to hear ‘Samsung beats Apple’ or Samsung is back at its throne as smartphone leader, but will Samsung continue with its current track? Only time will tell.

A middle-aged man in China who is claimed as the part of the nouveau riche circle of China hit the headlines due to his show-off of robots as his maids. The man was photographed in Guangzhou while on a shopping spree escorted by 8 robotic maids who were dressed in a typical maid dress. He certainly looks like riding the giant wave of artificial intelligence-powered robot culture.

Chinese media are calling him openly a ‘tuhao’, which is a commonly used Chinese slang to describe individuals who overnight turn out as rich, but display a lack of good taste and ethics, ‘nouveau riche’ as we call it.

In the pictures posted online, we can notice this ‘tuhao’ selecting gold jewelry at the counter of a jewelry shop. While he looks like having a pleasant time, the robotic maids, on the other hand, wait patiently behind carrying a coat, towel, and water in their hands. As soon as he’s done with his shopping, the humanoid robots dressed in maid outfit follow him attentively.

Locals and the online public are commenting that only such individuals can enjoy services catered to them in this way. One individual mockingly made a comment that he wondered if the only son of the richest man in China can get similar robotic service.

People from all over the world have heavily criticized the man for his uncultured, crass behavior.

Of course, robots are a miracle of science and technology, similar to a non-living being, but using them in an insulting manner is not good at all.
